Celebrating Sisterhood on Women’s Day!

A friend messaged me late that afternoon, casually, about anything for Women’s Day. I was caught off guard. Was I supposed to do something? I had no time, and my mind was all over the place.

You know how it is—those bonds we forge in school and college are tighter than skinny jeans. You’re basically sisters and partners in crime. But then adulting happens—career, marriage, families—and slowly but surely, those ride-or-die besties become casual acquaintances who occasionally like each other’s Instagram pics and share reels (if lucky, though).

The thing is, female friendships deserve a little more light than they get! Think about it: When was the last time you watched a movie that did those bonds justice? I’m not referring to Hollywood movies here. Sure, we got those golden oldies like Magalir Mattum and Snegithae showing the code in all its glory. But these days? It’s rare to find a film that truly captures the essence of strong female friendships. Perhaps there is nothing to capture as the bonds aren’t forever.

That’s why, on this Women’s Day, I’m reminding y’all to appreciate and nurture those female forces in your life. Don’t let those bonds just fizzle out once you settle down.

My childhood bestie hit me up with the sweetest little message on Women’s Day. Instant heart eyes. It totally made my day. Because, at the end of the day, having a few people that celebrate you and have your back unconditionally? That’s priceless. After that, I voluntarily sent out wishes to several people.

At the end of the day, we could all use more of that empowering energy—that mutual love and respect for each other as human beings. Because whether you’re rocking a skirt or pants, we all just want to feel seen, heard, and valued by the people who matter most.

So thank you to all the real ones out there—my sisters from other misters, my brunch buns, and every last king who celebrates queens unapologetically!

Here’s to more of that energy.
