The post reflects on a memory from 2013 and the writer’s emotions and reflections on missing someone deeply.
In the bright noon, a hot breeze burns my hair;
Cheeks on my hand, staring at the clear blue;
As his memories stay in each of my cells;
His words echoed in my ears over and over again;
A portrait of him floats in reddish eyes;
Spending another day without you.
PS: I remember scribbling this on an afternoon theory class (not sure of the subject). My doc says it was created in April 2013 and those were the initial days of my scribblings. I was too naïve and wrote this since the class wasn’t that interesting or hiked in oxytocin.
The similarities between humans and books reveal how each person can impact our lives like different genres of literature.
The title may look lame, but there are many things that you can connect and find similarities among humans with books. I wasn’t very much into reading when I was young. I remember my aunt saying right after dinner, “Read books, that will help you”. The advice gives you inspiration for seconds and gets evaporated right. As a Naval says,
It expired right after a tight sleep. I used to read Supandi stories and some comic stories in Tinkle. Some books are named Ashley, and I don’t remember the book or the story. Now, coming back to the title, why I wanted to bring out the similarities between humans and books.
Every human we meet doesn’t have to stay with us till eternity. You might wonder, how about life partners and parents too?
On average, time spent – with family peaks at <15yo – with friends peaks at 18 – with coworkers peaks at 30 – with children peaks at 40 – with your partner peaks at 70 – alone peaks at the end
We don’t spend much time around each other. Perhaps Asians spend less time alone than people in Western countries. To make decisions and detachment smoother, each person can be compared to a book.
Parents and relatives are like compulsory subject books. Certain subjects inspire or motivate you like self-help books others traumatize you*.
School and college friends* are merely like comic books, especially like Supandi. At any age, you pick them, they make you laugh and give the same vibe.
Some people will stay in your life by looking at the shiny hardcover and failing to look any further. They just keep you on their bookshelf for display. While some judge you by appearance. While on the other hand, people judge you based on the cover.
People we meet at cafés, parks, or even at parties are comparable to books at the store. When you look too deeply inside what lies beneath the hardcover, a few chapters may be interesting, but as it unfolds, we tend to lose interest.
There are possibilities of meeting people who are hard as books on Quantum mechanics or Codes. Nothing will ever be understood, no matter how hard you try. It could be your manager too (lol, jk).
Some will enter your life solely to elevate, improve, shape, and mold you through their actions, just as atomic habits do. It doesn’t have to be one particular person. They can be your friends, your role model, your unmeet mentor, or anyone who comes to your while reading this.
It’s hard to live a life without enemies. They test you, fight your fears and beliefs, criticize you, and so on. They either break us or force us to discover who we are. I am sure there will be books related to these enemies that have had a significant impact on you and your beliefs or have even changed you as a person. I would personally say Siddhartha and Eleven Minutes. They created a huge impact on me. The word “enemy” is subjective. For some, it’s a person, for others it’s a belief system, and it depends.
Autobiographies are similar to seniors in high school or colleagues at work. They help and guide us the entire time, telling us all the tricks, revealing their failures, and assisting us in climbing the mountain. Sometimes they act like a manual for the experiment called “Life”
Specific people can be compared to crime or thriller novels. They try to bring out the worst in you or to haunt you like hell.
A few will enter your life to clear the storm, bring you back from the brink of extinction, break your existential crisis, and give you the rationale to live your life stronger. Veronika decides to die, and some dead philosophers were the means of my survival.
Then comes the people with who you fall in love. They take you to all the fantasy worlds and take a roller coaster ride with your estrogen levels. They are fiction novels where that make you feel as if you’re on another planet with no problems like inflation, gas prices, etc. The possibilities of getting sunk and wet are high. You lose yourself since love is blind (IYKYK)!
The final group of books that I want to talk about is uncategorized people in our lives. We have no idea why we keep them, why we read a few pages, and so on. Simply keep a bookmark and place it in the cupboard so that no other page can harm anyone.
*- Not all
Have a great week ahead! Cheers!
PS: Well, ping me if any kinds of books/humans need to be added. The current read is Becoming!
The history and values of “Nothing”, a brand by Kunal Shah and Carl Pei, its entry into the smartphone market, and key traits.
The word nothing came from “nān thing” meaning no thing. I am not here to write about the history of nothing but something related to nothing. Yes, it’s about nothing. A few things pop into my mind when I hear the word nothing. Let me list first, then we will do nothing.
This page is all about the key takeaway from the conversation of Kunal Shah and Carl Pei (CEO of Nothing)
1. Entering Oligopoly
Smartphone markets are dominated by Android and iOS. Entering to build the hardware and create a brand is one of the hardest things to do. Apart from Apple, no other brands exist in people’s minds (That’s the power of creating a brand and probably people are waiting for Apple 14). They started with Ear (1) and then Phone (1). To survive in a pre-dominated market, the best thing is to build a quality product.
When you’re weak and late in an Industry, fast follower strategy works best. Find a loop hole/opportunity in a predefined market and build your unique approach.
– Carl
2. Core Values of Nothing
The values of Nothing seem relevant to every one of us. He mentioned the 4 core values of the company.
Be the change
Pride and Product
Thrive on diversity
Survive
Carl’s explanation of the last value got stuck. He said, “But, at the end of the day, you must be available for another chance or another day to try to change what you want to change”. Isn’t true for having a healthy body and healthy mind?
3. Gut Feeling
Gut feeling is not random. It is all based on past experiences that we had which can’t be explained logically. – Carl
Everyone can’t predict or rely on positive outcomes based on gut feelings or intuitions. I believe, that people who have tried out a lot of things, knowing the strategies of failure, second-order consequences can make better intuitive decisions.
4. Culture
Any company can survive in the long run based on its culture. There is nothing to state any further on this.
5. Traits of Mediocre
Here, is the pooled list of mediocre people given by Kunal and Carl
Not knowing the details
Can’t handle feedbacks/criticism
Taking things personally
Terrible at taking help
Lack of curiosity
Separation between work and free time
Constantly seeking external validation
6. Risk-seeking Behavior
Everyone out there is worried about their reputation and risk-seeking behavior is observed less among the youngsters.
People are worried about their reputation and status when they have none…
You can’t build substances in life without putting the wealth, reputation or health at stake. – Kunal
I believe reputation matters at a young age due to the filters of social media. To look good, to have fancy things, to have social status, to do something just to impress others rather than pushing beyond the limits and thyself ( Sometimes, I am a victim too).
7. Nothing
The team came up with the name “Nothing” because all other names (NEXT, STONE, ESSENTIAL) that they chose before appeared to be “cringe” for Carl’s younger sister (Lol). This is how they came up with “Nothing”
I hope, I covered almost all the key highlights here. To watch the full conversation, here is the link.
Cheers! Enjoy Nothing!
PS: I like the LED lights at the back.
Disclaimer: I am gifted with nothing to write about this. At least, I should be gifted with something to write about nothing yet I got nothing (lol).
The writer explored various platforms for blogging, facing challenges with features and customization until deciding on WordPress for simplicity and features.
3–4 minutes
When I first had the idea of writing, apart from the diary, I wished to write in public and I had no clue about platforms. I use to document all-day activities in notion but I wasn’t sure of any as such. I started surfing about blogging in the open-source university (Google and YouTube) and nothing could have been possible without it. I watched a few videos and read a few pages about blogging.
Initially, It all seemed like humans talking in a different language and I am not a techie expert here. I remember solving some C++ programs in UG (I don’t remember any of the syntaxes now) for days and dates to appear in the output. Now, everything looked complex, with all jargon, n number of options, and features provided at different levels in each platform (Basic, Premium, Business, and E-commerce). I knew nothing about it and my source of information was only Google and YouTube. Watched some more videos, and read many articles yet I was not fine with anything nor clarity.
I also started to explore other platforms (LinkedIn, Quora, Medium, Substack, Reuve, etc.). I registered almost on all platforms and checked the features. I intended to have my website and it was one of the things that stopped me from writing on these. It might sound cringe or egoistic but I wanted to write whatever liked writing without worrying about likes validation or followers.
I follow a personal blog of a coder and he developed his static website through Flash. The repository is there on his GitHub too. I had thought of making use of the codes and learning it from YouTube, and working things out but wasn’t sure of the long term. What if I had to add or alter something? I might get tired of searching for codes and that would not work right.
Getting back, Godaddy, Namecheap (It was comparatively cheaper among all), Google domains, WordPress, Ghost, and Wix are common in India as far as I know. I recall buying the domain and looking for cheaper platforms. Then, I decided to cancel the domain and received a refund. I couldn’t find any that were both affordable and had adequate features.
My second last hit was WIX, I was convinced at working with Wix and its features like click and drag to change any blocks or to design a page. The issue that I had with Wix was not customizable for the basic plan with the personalized domain name.
It’s not as same as shopping on Amazon, Flipkart, or E-bay. You can buy it and if it doesn’t fit you, return it and get a refund. All of these have the least subscriptions of a year and rates are cheaper as you chose the longer duration. Transferability kicks off when you want to switch all the content to the next platform.
Considering all the above, I found WordPress to be more suitable for my demands.
#No coding
You can still write without the knowledge of coding but, TBH coders have the edge.
#Customizable
You have to learn to navigate through WordPress and everything becomes handy once you master it. The internet has everything accessible.
# Easy to use
The interface is not that complicated here. I wasn’t sure about having a domain name in one source and hosting on the other and the cost seemed lesser when I purchased both here.
#Features
The availability of features depends on the plans that you choose. If anyone wants to have all the plugins, advanced SEO, etc. opt for the Business plan. For beginners, Basic or premium would do.
#Cost
This is a subjective point that is determined by your desires and investment level. Set your brackets, do your research, and see what falls into your basket. Good Luck!
Cheers!

Earth formed 4.6 billion years ago; life appeared 3.7 billion years ago. Terrestrial organisms evolved into whales, efficient and social creatures.
Earth formed 4.6 billion years ago, and life forms like microscopic organisms appeared 3.7 billion years ago. Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes came into the picture. Various scientists classified them based on their similarities and difference. Lol, I am an armature and not writing a research article here. Recently started reading about the evolution of living organisms.
All these living creatures have got a connection with the water whether it’s plants or animals. According to the evolution of nature, aquatic organisms colonized the land over the years. Similarly from mosses to mango trees, and sponges to humans. Simplicity and simple are the words preferred by everyone, as it sounds simple but it’s not how nature works. These primitive simple organisms were differentiated into complex ones like humans! This is how I believed until I came across this tweet.
Whales evolved from a bizarre, vaguely whale-looking land animal called the Pakicetus that lived in Pakistan 50 million years ago. pic.twitter.com/AwAgQSGOj3
I kept wondering how an aquatic animal could evolve from a terrestrial creature. TBH, I was so dumb to believe that whales and dolphins belong to Pisces. I knew something like they give birth to young ones and don’t lay eggs but I didn’t know they belonged to mammals.
Curiosity arouse about how these land animals (Pakicetus) evolved into the “cetacean“? Curiosity stays until a distraction comes right? As usual, I got distracted by some Instagram reels after shallow surfing on google.
I happened to visit one of my senior’s places for some personal work. While chilling, she played a series and storyline focused on a lawyer who suffered fromautism. So, it’s a court-seen drama. The main lead adores whales, and whenever she encounters a problem, she refers to the whales to solve it.
I know it’s dramatic but I loved the concept of bringing whales and their unique characters. Curiosity to know more about whales grew stronger and took a few hours to research and write about it too!
Here we go!
The best and most free university that we have now is YouTube and Google.
As I began, It was amazing and surprising to see nature’s mystery. Pakicetus has four limbs, fingers/toes a nostril (Nose to breathe near the mouth), which looks like a wolf or fox, and a tail. They started moving towards the water surface to catch the fish to eat. After some years, there comes anintermediate who can walk and swim, and then came whales.
The whales didn’t have four limbs instead have two flippers to swim. The nostrils went above the head and are called blowholes, and some whales had baleen. It still amazes me! They are magnificent and weigh up to 150 tons (Blue whales).
What is so important for one’s survival?
Okay, oxygen comes before money! We breathe atmospheric oxygen but these aquatic organisms make use of the dissolved oxygen in the water. Their respiratory system is way more efficient than humans. They come to the surfaceto get oxygen and can survive up to 2 hours in the deep ocean without breathing. Fascinating, isn’t it?
Whales live in communities and the male whales sing to attract their mate. I wonder what lyrics were written in those songs. Do the females conduct singing competitions? Lol, Nature only knows. These songs are helping to do focused work. Give it a try!
Female whales allow only perfect male whales to proceed further. Despite their preferences, they are thebest mothersin the ocean. They don’t leave their calf, even lose their weightto feed the younger ones.
They are very passionate and adorable. It gives warmth and felt a little closer to them!
A girl struggles with unrequited love, longing for someone who doesn’t see her true value or love.
In a dark room, a tempting girl snuggles downs;
Being smashed with the oceans of thoughts;
As it was unendurable to choke back the tears;
He shrugged carelessly and denied her with a smile;
For prettier girl presented her love;
The person whom she idolized forgetting herself;
Struggling to give up his soul from the darkroom;
The place where her soul beats and pumps;
Never realized that she has been loved by her alley;
For she was the honey of his blooming flowers;
Being in a dilemma to suit her with a wooer;
She sleeps restlessly with a dismal smile!!!
The bride, adorned in stunning attire, captivated all with her elegance. Guests were awestruck as she walked down the aisle.
There she was, at the entry with her bridesmaids, She was dressed up to the nines. Little stones on her, sparkled her glory and lit the room, Everything seemed flawless and perfect. The crowd looked perpetual and wondered if it was a doll. As her lashes waved, dazzling eyes moved, A sight to behold for the gathering, Failing to think of other phrases, idioms, or expressions That would define her precisely, Stood speechless and had his head in the clouds, Oblivious to her own majesty, She walked down the aisle with grace and elegance.
She faced him with determination, but his words and souvenirs left her suffocated and skeptical, shattering her dreams.
Finally, the day has arrived that she never wanted,
Crammed with valor, pushed herself to face him,
As she might fall again for those dazzling eyes,
Picked up her present with heaviness in her heart,
An Ocean of thoughts baffled her in pain,
Made up her mind to inscribe her epilogue,
Stood still, scatterbrained, struggling to retrieve herself,
As he was irresistible with his jammies,
Afore she could gaze at him completely, he sets the seal on his words,
Having heard none, bestowed a collection of his souvenirs,
Took her way out, as she ne’er cried out for shambles,
Indubitable words to be left out in the cold,
Suffocated, choked up against her agony of mind,
His throbbing pulse heaved a sigh of relief,
As it blew away her skeptical beliefs,
Skedaddled with Sayonara, plundering his chimerical dreams.!
A woman struggled with loneliness in an unfamiliar place until a caring man helped her heal and embrace life’s beauty.
In the world of unknown traditions and lifestyles,
Fear of being left alone haunted her, as conformist she was.!
Before she could settle herself in that strange land
uncertainty devastated her within the walls of loneliness,
Shielded her from the eyes of opposite like a turtle,
although she couldn’t endure another parting,
As zephyr, he entered in terms of amity,
where he was undogmatic and receptive.!
His love and care kept healing her bruise.!
Stunning eyes crouched, swayed her thoughts not to fall but in vain
Unconsciously, he swept her off her feet.!
Beats of his heart just felt on the palm of her hands,
As cold winds blew, he held her tight around his arms,
Sphere failed to revolve when his lips were on hers,
Comprehended her to breakthrough through her own dividing line
And taught her to admire even the teensy-weensy things
Her picture of right winger women was smashed down to earth
While he illuminated her beauty and soul through colors
Afore she could rise to ecstatic, Left her with no traces behind like a merman
Without anticipating her destiny, fluttered her wings too high.!
